Software to save YouTube videos is available from http://www.realplayer.com/ . Click on “Get Realplayer Free” or “Free Download”. Answer questions when prompted. The software to save and view YouTube videos in .flv format will be downloaded to your PC. Do this one time.
Each time you want to save a YouTube video, move the cursor over the video. A popup box “Download This Video” will appear. Click the box. The video will be saved in “.flv” format.
Well Water and Compositing Toilets
An inexpensive emergency well bucket can retrieve water from a 6 inch well during a power outage. A 2 inch diameter PVC pipe 5 feet long can hold approximately 0.9 gallons of water. Add a bottom fitted check valve and you have an emergency well bucket that can be lowered by rope into the well casing alongside existing wires and plumbing, allowed to sink, then raised full of water. This clean water should not be used to flush a toilet because of the human effort needed to haul water from the well. Use an inexpensive homemade composting toilet that requires no water.
